DONATIONS NEEDED NOW!

AMAR operates strictly on donations from the public.  100% of all rescued Maltese need medical attention of some kind; some much more than others.  AMAR pays for all these Vet expenses prior to putting a dog up for adoption, and Adoption Fees rarely cover a dog’s expenses.  We need your help to continue saving these little innocents.  Please use this button to help them now??”
Sponsor a Special Angel

Can’t foster, but want to help AMAR?  Sponsor a Special Angel!

What is a Special Angel?  Our Special Angel are also known as Forever Fosters.  These are dogs saved by AMAR who, for a variety of reasons, cannot be put up for adoption.  They will remain foster dogs, under AMAR’s care, for the remainder of their lives.  These dogs usually have long term medical or emotional issues; for example, a blind dog, or a dog with doggie dementia, already familiar with their foster home, and it would be too stressful for them to relocate to another residence.
Now you can be a Sponsor for one, or more, of these dogs, providing part, or all, the financial needs, while our foster homes provide the care and love.  These dogs have the same needs as healthy dogs, and then some.  Many need special foods, physical therapy, special equipment, continuing medical and grooming, etc.  Sponsors can help with these expenses.

Visit our Special Angels page, and underneath each of the Special Angel’s story there is a button you can use if you are interested in sponsoring that particular dog.

Won’t you please sponsor a Special Angel today?

Want to have some fun?

Our little AMAR Spokesdog is Chip - The Maltese Farm Dog.  He has his own Facebook page with almost 2000 followers.  Chip is one of our AMAR rescue dogs that ended up living on a small farm with cats, chickens, horses, fish, and 3 other dog siblings.  He says his goal is to show that not all Maltese are girls, nor are they just cutsie lap dogs.  He shows you what farm life is like for a little 7 lb dog.  Occasionally, he features AMAR foster dogs.   If you want to enjoy a daily smile, follow Chip - The Maltese Farm Dog.  That’s what his page is all about.

You can follow him HERE.   And tell your friends, if they want a daily smile too.

The general public sees Maltese dogs as the dog-snobs of the world, status symbols, with beautiful white flowing coats, owned by the elite.  But did you know that many aren’t that lucky?

American Maltese Association Rescue is a 501c3 organization dedicated to saving the unlucky Maltese.

We see Maltese who have been neglected, abused, and abandoned.  They come to us from shelters, as owner surrenders, as lost dogs found along busy highways or city streets, hoarder homes, and puppy mills.  They come to us with broken bones, infected eyes, dangerous heart conditions, severe emotional issues, teeth so rotten their jaw bones are deteriorated, emaciation or excessive weight, nervous system disorders, cancer, other horrible diseases, internal infections, and more.  What should be a beautiful white flowing coat, has turned into filthy, severe matting, so bad that a few could barely walk, or see, or perform bodily functions.  Some have died in our arms.  Many, many more have been saved.

AMAR doesn’t use a sanctuary.  We operate entirely with foster homes, where these dogs are welcomed, cleaned-up, treated for their medical conditions, trained, and most of all loved, until they are healthy enough to find their forever homes.

And AMAR doesn’t have a single paid employee.  Everyone at AMAR is a volunteer, including all our foster homes across the nation.  AMAR functions purely with donated funds, and ALL the money goes to help the dogs in our care.

There is no shortage of Maltese needing help, and there is no shortage of homes to adopt them.  The missing parts of the equation are the foster homes and donations.  Can you help us?  Become a foster home and save their lives.  If you can’t foster, please make a donation to save their lives.”

“Do you walk, run, or bicycle?  You can donate to help Maltese rescue dogs without any money out of your pocket.  Your exercise miles can translate to funds for AMAR.

There is an application for smart phones that helps you keep track of the miles you’ve exercised, and donate funds to save rescue Maltese at the same time.  It is called WoofTrax, and is available in most smart phone app stores.

Sign-up with WoofTrax , and in the set-up tell the app the donations go to American Maltese Association Rescue.

This app provides you with helpful statistics about your exercise, like how far you traveled, time spent exercising, and your average speed.  It even gives you a map showing where you exercised.

So, walk your dog, or jog with, or without him, bike with your friends, it still helps the dogs.  Just don’t forget to turn it on and off when you start and finish, for the most accurate results.”

2016 Rescue Calendar
The coming year's calendar features some of our most complex 2015 rescue dogs. This is not unusual, because we do not compete with the public for adoptable dogs. We save the ones that need us, because of medical, behavioral help, and patient love needs.

This year's stories and photos, will break your heart, and make it soar with joy, as you see these wonderful white fluffs bloom with the love of their foster and Forever Homes.

This is a picture of the cover.

Cost is $20.00 each which includes shipping. For every 5 calendars you order and pay for you will get 1 free.  (Order 5, get 6; Order 10 get 12; etc.) Remember, Christmas is next month and these make wonderful gifts for friends and family.

All proceeds go to help rescued Maltese. Don't miss getting yours this year!!!

If you have pre-ordered a calendar and want to add to your order to get the free one just let us know you have already ordered.
This is one of AMAR’s Special Angels, Micah.  Special Angel is another term for Permanent Foster, a dog that is not adoptable due to severe medical issues.  Micah has no eyes, along with other incurable problems, so she will remain with her Foster Mom, Stephanie, until the end of her days.

At any given point in time, AMAR has a few of these Permanent Fosters.  We are committed to providing them care and love for the rest of their lives.  As you can imagine, Vet bills for these dogs can run into the thousands of dollars, not including special diets and equipment needed to make them comfortable.

You can sponsor a Special Angel with monthly donations for their care.  Just visit our Special Angel Page, and find the Donate Now buttons.  You will be taken to PayPal where there is a place for notes, where you can enter the name of the Special Angel you would like to help support.  As much as $5.00 per month would be a HUGE help.

For those of you who would foster but can’t, this is a great way to help AMAR continue to help dogs like Micah.
